Read more about this physician's nomination story*:
Dr. Achmad has led our psychiatry CL team in increasing our knowledge and confidence in treating patients with substance use disorders. They make up a large part of our population and the hospital setting is a perfect opportunity to try to address their disorders and initiate MAT. He has led our team in practicing suboxone microinductions, which is a pivotal skill in treating opiate use disorder and allows us to get patients on safe, evidence based effective treatment with lower risk of experiencing withdrawal. As a team we are feeling more and more confident in treating substance use disorders and Dr. Achmad has been an incredible leader and rising start in this effort. His work at Lenox Hill will certainly have widespread and significant benefits for the patients we serve. One specific example includes how as a team we were able to successfully start an initially ambivalent patient on suboxone, which both addressed his substance use disorder and treated his pain. This transition to suboxone allowed him to finally leave the hospital after over 2 months and by discharge the patient was feeling highly motivated about his future.
